Treading the Years

The solo show by artist FULVIO TOMASI  "TREADING THE YEARS" with presentation by Melania Lunazzi, promoted by “Assessorato alla Cultura del Comune di Muggia” with the help and coordination of “Associazione Juliet” will open on Thursday May 19th 2011, at 6.30 p.m., in the exhibition spaces of the Carà Museum  - Via Roma 9, Muggia (Trieste). A series of acquaforte etchings produced between 2001 and 2011 will be on show.

"To TREAD acquires four different meanings as diverse but at the same time as complementary to each other. Treading as “carving the plate to forge a matrix”. But also it means etching the mind to create avenues of thoughts rather than others. Treading as sailing through the vagaries of our lives and time. Treading as a reminder of the place I am from and I live; the concept of carsic erosion wich means thinning matter to fashion it in a different way".
                                                                                                                        Fulvio Tomasi, february 9th, 2011

Melania Lunazzi profiled the artist as following:
"In Fulvio Tomasi’s work a strongly felt abstraction cause the viewer to fall into parallel worlds of deep oneiric situations. Settings are only etched, whereas the artist’s mind treads along  otherworldy paths lost between memory and immagination. Million of tiny signs work the plate and give shape to those worlds. A wandering eye which sparkles with circumspected and evil flashings and assumes a life of its own. It teases the viewer with mirror-like games, lost between looking at oneself and being looked at sailing in a vacuum made up of angles, spirals, volumes that open and close immaginary spaces into which to give air, costrain or solve with irony all violence, incongruity and vanity of human behaviour".
